John Featherstone

John is a master in the field of songwriting, composition and performing. At the moment living in France. Very active to create new songs, theme-programs, contemporary and cantate.

John Featherstone is a 7-string guitarist, singer, songwriter, composer, and arranger based in Paris. He specialises in juxtaposing classical and contemporary modes in his performances, which go from solo concerts to a cross-over work for two choirs and contemporary chamber group. His choral works include a trilogy of cantatas on the birth, life and passion of Christ, CREDO, based on the text of the Creed, and PASSAGE, a musical dialogue between faith and scepticism. Over the last few years he has been exploring how much can be communicated without words, composing, and performing and recording on the 7-string guitar built for him by Andy Manson. Having composed a French CD of liturgical songs last year, he was appointed musical director for a televised service which was held at the 15,000 seater Bercy Stadium in Paris in September, involving scoring for, and conducting, a massive choir and orchestra. John has recorded 12 CDs of his own music and his collaborative work is extensive. Performance contexts include theatres and cathedrals as well as small halls, prisons, bars, and people’s front rooms.
